Our founder created Community Transport in 1964 with a small band of volunteers who were passionate about their local community and eager to try and support, and what an impact they had!
Fast forward 50 years as we continue to be an integral part of numerous communities through the west midlands and north east, with our team of over 150 employees and volunteers. Our founders’ passion remains true as we continue to provide affordable furniture and household goods, accessible transport and are continuously up-skilling the community with training.
Casual Passenger Driver
You will be the face of Community Transport by providing a caring, supportive and safe transport service for people who experience mobility or other health issues. You will drive Community Transport minibuses legally, safely and responsibly; taking either groups of passengers or individuals on a demand responsive basis, to and from different destinations. You will be required to work across all of our fantastic passenger services projects including transporting the elderly, community groups, vulnerable adults and children with special needs or disabilities to cover periods of holiday, sickness and our increasing portfolio of contracts.
Being a Casual Driver works for many of our employees as it offers the oppertunity of a better work/life balance. Some of our current casual drivers combine working for CT along with other part time work, some of our drivers have decided to join CT to get out and about during retirement and others find casual work fits in well around travel plans or hobbies - weekday, weekend and evening work is available As a casual drivers you will be notified of vacancies for fixed hours roles as and when they arise so it can be a great stepping stone into a full time career with Community Transport.

You will possess
1. Current driving licence with D1 (101) entitlement (max 3 points)
2. Ability to respect client confidentiality and a commitment to equal opportunities and safe guarding
3. Flexibility to meet the needs of the business - evenings and weekend availability is advantageous
4. A caring, resilient, reliable and very patient nature with a good sense of humour
5. A calm professional approach in the face of multiple pressures
