Fast forward 50 years as we continue to be an integral part of numerous communities through the west midlands and north east, with our team of over 150 employees and volunteers. Our founders’ passion remains true as we continue to provide affordable furniture and household goods, accessible transport and are continuously up-skilling the community with training.

The Role
You will be the face of Community Transport by providing a caring, supportive and safe transport service for people who experience mobility or other health issues. You will drive Community Transport minibuses legally, safely and responsibly; taking either groups of passengers or individuals on a demand responsive basis, to and from different destinations.  You will operate all auxiliary equipment fitted to vehicles such as lifts, ramps, steps, radios, wheelchair harnesses, restraints and cab heaters, you will remove and replace seating where necessary in a safe and proper manner. You will ensure passengers are embarked, carried and disembarked safely.  That appropriate seat belts and when required child seats are used at all times the vehicle is in motion and that any wheelchairs, frames, oxygen cylinders, luggage and goods are properly and safely restrained.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

1. You will collect our passengers from their homes and transport them to medical centres to allow them to receive life saving Renal Dialysis. 

2. You will provide excellent customer service and highest standard of care and consideration in transporting our passengers.

3. You will ensure passengers are embarked, carried and disembarked safely.

4. You will ensure CT minibuses are driven in a legal, safe and responsible manner at all times.

5. You will operate all auxiliary equipment fitted to vehicles such as lifts, ramps, steps, radios, wheelchair harnesses and restraints in a safe and proper manner.

6. You will  ensure the safe removal and replacement of seating within the minibus when necessary.

7. You will ensure wheelchairs, frames, oxygen cylinders and luggage are restrained in a safe and proper manner.

8. You will be responsible for meeting the legal requirements of all road transport legislation.

9. You will provide cover for passenger assistants and minibus drivers on other projects as and when necessary.

You will possess:

1. Full driving licence with D1 entitlement 

2. The ability to respect client confidentiality and a commitment to equal opportunities and safe guarding

3. Flexibility to meet the needs of the business including working unsociable hours (Please note that this role will include working Saturdays and Bank Holidays as well as early starts and late finishes - average 5.30am starts and 8.30pm finishes) 

4. A caring, resilient, reliable and very patient nature with a good sense of humor

5. A calm professional approach in the face of multiple pressures
